Yamato overlock and flatlock machines are common in knitwear and garment units across India. They sew fast, so the parts that touch the thread and the fabric wear first. Knowing which part to suspect saves hours of adjusting a machine that only needs a new looper or a fresh needle plate. This guide covers the parts we are asked for most.
The lower looper carries the thread under the needle to form the stitch. When its tip gets burred or worn, you see skipped stitches, frayed thread or loops that do not lock. Check the tip with a fingernail before you touch the timing. If it catches, replace it. We stock the 34393 lower looper for Yamato machines and the Y34393 looper for Yamato overlock machines. Confirm the number against your parts book, because loopers for different models look almost identical.
A needle plate with grooves or a chipped needle hole snags knit fabric and pulls threads. Replace it when you can feel a rough edge. The 3108134 needle plate for Yamato machines is a common replacement, and the same number is also listed for the Yamato overlock machine. Refit it with the correct clearance to the needle so the needle does not strike the plate.
A bent or worn thread hook lets the thread wander out of its path, so stitches look loose on one side. On the FD-62 the 68124 thread hook is the part to change. Fitting it and re-threading the machine cleanly often removes a tension problem that looked like a bigger fault.
Flatlock seams on sportswear and tees need the right foot. A worn plastic foot drags on knit fabric and leaves marks. The 528BT Teflon presser foot for W500 flatlock machines glides over the fabric.
