On a busy overlock line, the needle plate, loopers, thread guides and cover hinges take the most wear. Skipped stitches, cut threads and loose covers usually point to one of these parts.

Needles, loopers, knives and feed dogs wear first because they work against fabric all day. Keep spares of these on hand.
Use your exact machine model and the parts book part number. Plates look alike but hole size and shape differ between versions. Compare numbers in the needle plate and feed dog chart, and send a photo if unsure.
Start with the needle: a bent, blunt or wrong needle is the usual cause. If a new needle does not help, the looper timing or needle height may need adjustment by a mechanic.
Do not assume so. Some parts are interchangeable and many are not. Always compare part numbers or confirm with the supplier before ordering.
