110mm vs 125mm Cloth Cutting Machine: Which One to Buy

What the number means

The 110mm or 125mm figure is the size of the round blade. A larger blade generally cuts through a taller stack of fabric, while a smaller one is lighter and easier to steer around curves. Choose by the thickness of the lay you cut most often.

How to decide

• Small stacks and curved patterns: a 110mm machine is easier to handle.
• Tall lays of fabric: a 125mm machine gives more cutting depth.
• Daily heavy use: look at a servo motor model, which runs cooler and quieter.

Parts that wear out first

Blades, the base plate, handle, wheels, switch and worm gear see the most use. Keep the blade sharp, oil the moving parts as the maker advises, and replace a worn gear before it damages the motor.
